ĐIỆN BIÊN — The first Bamboo Airways flight from Hà Nội landed at Điện Biên Phủ airport in the northern border province of Điện Biên on Thursday, marking the official launch of Bamboo Airways' Hà Nội-Điện Biên route.
The airline operates three return flights a week on the route using Embraer 190 aircraft. The flight frequency will gradually increase depending on actual travel demand.

HÀ NỘI — The US Consulate General in HCM City on Friday awarded a US$2.96 million grant to AMI AC Renewables to construct a battery energy storage system pilot project in Việt Nam.
The project will use cutting-edge American technology and equipment to demonstrate how advanced energy storage can reduce power losses and help Việt Nam integrate greater renewable energy into its power system. It will be built and integrated into a 50MW Solar Farm operated by AMI AC Renewables in Khánh Hòa Province.
Energy storage is the key to unlock the potential of renewables and is a vital component of the energy transition. The project comes after a study funded by the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to examine the feasibility of deploying advanced energy storage technologies in Việt Nam. — VNS

HÀ NỘI — The bad debt trading floor of Vietnam Asset Management Company (VAMC) is set to begin operation today (October 15).
Nguyễn Trọng Du, Deputy Chief Inspector of State Bank of Việt Nam said the major tasks of the floor are to provide consultancy services in debt and asset trading and act as an intermediary to arrange the sales of bad debt and collateral for bad debts among relevant parties.

NDO/VNA – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has emphasised the need to build an open and transparent court and judicial sector under the public supervision for the people and serve the people in the best way.
The President, who is also Head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, made the request during a working session with the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Supreme People’s Court on judicial reform of the court sector in Hanoi on October 15.
In the past tenure, courts nationwide received over 2.4 million cases and handled 97.6 percent of the total. Over 7,400 serious corruption and economic cases were brought to trials with 14,450 defendants. The court sector publicised more than 733,000 verdicts and decisions on its portal.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health is working hard to roll out the vaccine strategy, especially vaccine diplomacy.
However, Vietnam and many other countries that have yet to produce vaccines are facing difficulties in vaccine access.
Long said economic recovery and the resumption of social activities depend on vaccination, adding that his ministry has continuously urged localities to speed up the inoculation./.

NDO/VNA - The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its partners have reaffirmed commitments to raise the ASEAN people’s awareness about the importance of disaster risk reduction during the commemoration of ASEAN Day for Disaster Management (ADDM) 2021.
The ADDM is convened annually and jointly with the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) on October 13. This year’s commemoration took place on October 14 via video conference, hosted by Singapore as the current Chair of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management (AMMDM).
It welcomed the finalisation of key documents that set strategic actions in disaster management in the next five years, including the launch of the ASEAN Regional Plan of Action on Adaptation to Drought 2021-2025; the ASEAN Framework on Protection, Gender and Inclusion 2021-2025; the ASEAN-UN Joint Strategic Plan of Action in Disaster Management (JSPADM) IV 2021-2025; the ASEAN Disaster Resilience Outlook; among others.
The Vietnamese national swimming team will leave for Hungary on November 1 to train for the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and 19th Asian Games (ASIAD).

In the opposite direction, Canada can be a door for Vietnamese goods to penetrate the US and Mexican markets - members of the new North American Free Trade Agreement.
