The third-phase clinical trial of Vietnam’s first home-grown COVID-19 vaccine, Nano Covax, began on June 10. Being developed by the Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC based on recombinant DNA/protein technology, the vaccine has undergone two trial phases and proved to be effective against the UK and South African variants.
More than 6,000 volunteers have registered for the third phase of the human trials of Nano Covax. The vaccine will be tested on around 13,000 volunteers aged between 18 and 74 in many localities nationwide.
Results from the previous two trials show that Nano Covax is completely safe. All of the vaccinated volunteers developed antibodies against the UK and South African variants.
