NDO/VNA – Coastal cities and provinces have been requested to review, amend and supplement their plans on implementing measures against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in line with their specific situation, towards the goal of ending violations of foreign waters by fishermen by the end of this year.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) made the request in a document sent to Chairpersons of People’s Committees of the 28 coastal cities and provinces, regarding the realisation of the Prime Minister’s conclusions on combating IUU fishing and removing the European Commission (EC)’s “yellow card.”
Fishermen should be prioritised in vaccination to make them feel secure in fishing and ensure the growth of the fisheries sector, the ministry said.
