Liberian ship sinks Vietnamese vessel, 17 rescued

A Vietnamese ship carrying nearly 10,000 tons of clinker was sunken by a Liberian ship in an accident off the coast of Vung Tau on Tuesday. -

The My An 1 ship, carrying the clinker from the northern province of Quang Ninh to Ho Chi Minh City, was being anchored near a buoy about 12 km away from Vung Tau, which borders HCMC, to clear a Covid-19 checkpoint at around 2:30 a.m. The Lisa Auerbach, which was carrying goods and on its way to the Lotus port in Ho Chi Minh City, collided with it, the Marine Administration of Vung Tau said.

All people involved in the incident have been taken into Vung Tau for Covid-19 quarantine as a precaution. An investigation is ongoing.
